SPIRIT OF BEYOND : THE SHIANT ISLES
GAIRLOCH MUSEUM 3 JULY - 28 AUGUST 2021
The exhibition Spirit of Beyond : The Shiant Isles opened to the public on Saturday 3rd July, 2021, at Gairloch Museum (a winner of the Art Fund’s UK Museum of the Year 2020) and ran until 28th August, accompanied by an extensive programme of events throughout the summer at the Museum. Talks, workshops, book and poetry readings were planned around the work and inspired by the Shiant Isles, including an enchanting and fascinating talk given by Adam Nicolson, still available to view here (starts at 2:45).
The work was met with an incredibly positive UK-wide response and much of the work in the exhibition was sold, heading to new homes as far away as London and even to the US.
The book published to accompany and expand upon the exhibition seemed to resonate in a remarkable way, with great enthusiasm and kind, unexpected support and appreciation from many artists and writers.
After numerous requests over the last 6 months for prints to be made available of some of the work, Giclée Fine Art Prints are now being made of some of the images from the exhibition. They can be found and ordered here.
“My sense of wonder is undimmed and my work continues to be inspired by the Shiants. I am hoping to return later this year. They still have so much to teach me and I feel as if I’ve only begun to scratch the surface of the stories they have to tell.”
